Feng Shui

The concepts of Feng shui 101 focus on various forms of energy and how to bring positive energy into the home or one’s life. There are many items in the home that can be placed in a better area to create more positive energy.

The main concepts of the practice are the compass and bagua. Bagua consists of five elements and is the basis for which the home is brought into balance. The five elements are wood, fire, water, metal, and earth.

There is not always an ideal place for certain items. Things like fireplaces and fish tanks may not be so easy to move. Bringing a new piece of wood furniture into the home can disrupt the balance. However, adding a glass coffee table or some mirrors can change things. Glass and plastic represent water.

In the creative cycle water produces wood so balance can make things right again. The destructive cycle can also be used to bring a room into balance. Water puts out fire, for example. If a fireplace is in the wrong place and cannot be moved a glass coffee table may bring the space back into harmony.

Feng shui 101 is all about good energy or chi. To bring better chi into the home, begin by removing clutter. Keep only those things you absolutely love. The next step is to bring as much light into the house as possible. Good chi also means having good air quality. This can be achieved with the use of many plants.

Some essential oils. Rose and jasmine are useful in the bedroom to create a sense of calm. Peppermint oil or lemongrass can be used to increase the energy in a home office. Peppermint is also used for clarity. Lavender has a calming effect and can be used anywhere an individual relaxes. These are the Feng shui 101 basics. A person who wants to learn more can read a book or find information on the internet.
